Adam’s Sons and Eve’s Daughters – Stories based on the Hebrew Scriptures

The stories in this book of 86 pages are based on the midrashim: stories developed between the second and the twelfth century by rabbis to explain gaps in the stories of what was formerly known as the Old Testament, but which scholars now call the Hebrew Scriptures.

These stories cover the myths from before the creation of the earth to the death of Cain. The teacher will have to use her/his knowledge of the soul needs of the class and individual children, and use her/his discretion about the parent body and the school environment in general to select appropriate stories. Though all of them are written with the 9-year-old in mind, some stories may not be acceptable to people who were brought up in a more strict Christian or Judean tradition.
