ANCIENT INDIA – 63 pages: Three and a half weeks of editable lesson plans with mentoring comments, presentation notes, stories, source texts, bookwork, blackboard, artwork and craftwork samples, the ‘Indian Evening’ event, the second Main Lesson Review and a letter of information to the parents.

Includes a free chapter of topic-related poems and text passages, songs with music scores, footnotes and attributions.

This chapter begins the year’s row of Ancient History blocks and shows how to present key aspects of India’s spirituality and culture in artistic form. Editable lesson plans demonstrate step by step how recitation, text passages from the holy books, essential stories, writing, painting and modelling can be combined to a satisfying learning experience that excites interest and lively participation without overwhelming the teacher. The block ends with a written review that shows and celebrates learning progress on each individual level.

  1. This was such a helpful guide for this block. I pulled many things from it when I was planning. I also appreciate seeing firsthand how an experienced teacher approached this block, since it can get a little overwhelming. My son and I had many great discussions and he connected with the stories.

  2. An excellent and straight forward resource that helped guide me through a rather complex block. I was quite intimidated to bring this content to my child, as it is very new to me and I did not attend a Waldorf school, nor am I familiar with Ancient India. However, this curriculum walked me through not only the main lesson content but the supportive lively arts activities. And, the author is very supportive in answering my questions. I feel like I am learning right along side my child; what a blessing!
