This block builds on the earlier measuring of time with activities designed to experience anthropometric units and unite the group of differing abilities in working with distance, weight and volume. Maths, spelling and recorder practice, singing and recitation continue alongside. The year’s topics are woven in by visiting a farm museum and its working windmill, baking a loaf of bread and hearing a Bible story that leads over to the following block. The limerick is explored and enjoyed, summaries are composed as a class and individually, and a reading event celebrates World Book Day.
