This study of traditional dwellings prepares the ground for a later block on the contemporary way of building houses. Class 3 themes of human shelter, livelihood, environment and cultural ingenuity are found in tent, yurt and tepee (portable, nomadic life, animal connection) and in cob and adobe craftsmanship (permanent housing, settled life). Hut, pile-dwelling, log cabin and igloo express human adaptation to region and climate, and the houseboat (mobility) a close connection with fishing and trade. Bible stories continue from the Tower of Babel to Abraham and his descendants, and here too certain studied topics play a part.
