Following on from Acoustics and Optics, this chapter concludes the Physics block with a study of the nature and properties of colour. Without imposing accepted theories on young minds, they are invited to observe several colour phenomena freely and accurately. Experiments on the arising of yellow, red and blue lead to prismatic refraction, the colour circle, complementary pairs, tertiary colours, the spectrum and the coloured shadows. Personal experiences and immediate insight will help to understand, in years to come, the ongoing ʻNewton vs Goetheʼ debate.
