EARLY ISLAM – 76 pages: Six weeks of detailed lesson plans with mentoring comments, background information for the teacher and presentation notes are illustrated with samples of blackboards and bookwork, the students’ written work, a letter of information to the parents, play rehearsal plans, and a seasonal calligraphy project to round off the term.
The free supplement of poems and songs is an editable template which includes sheet music, footnotes and attributions, a guideline and a time plan for producing the class play.
The second of this year’s four History blocks gives an overview of the rise of Islam and prepares the ground for future history lessons. Daily lesson plans show how this topic is approached in an artistic way while rehearsing and performing a play with an entirely different theme. This block, leading up to Christmas, ends with a calligraphy project of one week that is easily adapted to other seasons and settings.

One of the hardest parts of homeschooling the upper grades is presenting challenging content that I myself am quite unfamiliar with. The details in this guide are robust, easy to follow and accurate. The content alone is worth the purchase of this block and is as “open and go” as I’ve seen Waldorf curriculums be. The mentoring comments and background information in this guide are a godsend! In addition to the content itself, the artwork samples and activities are excellent and meaningful. The PDF includes actual samples student bookwork. It gave me great insight as to how detailed a 7th-grade main lesson page should be. I also love the poetry and play details! What a great curriculum!
